American Association of Intensive English Programs (AAIEP)

The American Association of Intensive English Language Programs (AAIEP) is an organization of over 300 intensive English language programs and associated service providers in the United States.

AAIEP is committed to supporting the professional image of ESL instruction in the United States and to work for the well being of the profession and the individual member-programs. The Association is a vehicle for working with NAFSA, TESOL, the Department of State, the Immigration and Naturalization Service, and other organizations that use IEP’s or whose actions affect IEP’s. These may also include U.S. and foreign government agencies, sponsors, and admissions officers and counselors. AAIEP is also committed to increasing the visibility abroad of member programs. As a means of attracting more ESL students to the United States, AAIEP participates in and sponsors catalog shows and study-abroad fairs.

Accrediting Council for Continuing Education & Training (ACCET)

ACCET was founded in 1974, for the purpose of improving continuing education and training, and has been officially recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, since 1978, as a “reliable authority” as to the quality of education and training provided by the institutions we accredit. In 1998, ACCET became the only recognized accrediting agency to be certified as an ISO 9001-Quality Management System, under the international standards established by the International Organization for Standardization, and continues to hold that unique status.

Teachers of English to speakers of other languages (TESOL) refers to the field itself as well as the professional association. Founded in 1966, Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages, Inc. (TESOL), is a global education association. Headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, in the United States, TESOL has approximately 13,000 members in over 120 countries, and is recognized as a nongovernmental organization (NGO) of the United Nations Department of Public Information.
