CELTA COURSE
ICC is the only location in Hawaii, and one of only 8 locations in the U.S., to be an authorized provider of the Cambridge University Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA). CELTA is a full-time, 4-week (40 hours/week) introductory course into the field of English language teaching. It is for individuals who would like to transition into the field of ESL/EFL. It is also suitable for ESL/EFL teachers who have classroom experience but no formal training in English language teaching.
Application Procedures and Entry Requirements
Applicants must...
- Submit an application form
- Be older than 20
- Go through a mandatory pre-interview session
- Have a standard of education that would allow them entrance to higher education in their country
- Have competence in English, both written and spoken, that would allow them to successfully complete the course
- Have the potential to develop the necessary skills to become effective teachers and to successfully complete the written assignments and the assessment of practice teaching
- Maintain full attendance on the course
Terms and Conditions
If an applicant is successful in completing the pre-interview tasks, the applicant will be sent a letter of acceptance onto the course in writing.
Course Fee
Please see the downloadable application forms for exact course fees and information. If the applicant requests accommodation through ICC, there will be a placement fee in addition to rent.
Tuition is due IN FULL two weeks prior to the start of the course. If a student cancels prior to starting the course, the registration fee and any accommodation placement fee will not be refunded. If, after having started any part of the course, a student decides for any reason that s/he cannot or does not wish to continue, there will be no refund of the course fees.

Each course includes a session on employment opportunities both abroad and in the United States.
