Waikiki by Moonlight: May 31st 2008

Saturday, May 31 2008 at 10:44 am The popular WAIKIKI BY MOONLIGHT block party returns for a third year on Saturday, May 31st, 6~10:00 p.m., after attracting over 15,000 people last year.

The WAIKIKI BY MOONLIGHT main stage will feature an incredible line-up of entertainment by today’s hottest musical acts, including:

Kumu Hula Howard and Olana Ai, Halau Hula Olana
Merrie Monarch Winners 2008 – Wahine Overall – 3rd, Kane Overall – 4th, Wahine Kahiko – 3rd. This distinguished halau has performed all over the world and been featured in many ad campaigns.

Teresa Bright
Multiple Na Hoku Hanohano Award winner. With one of the most beautiful voices, Teresa Bright ranks at the top of Hawai`i's best and brightest singers. Her renditions of traditional Hawaiian songs, often colored with a touch of jazz and blues, have distinguished her music for two decades.

Kalapana
The legendary group exploded onto the local music scene in 1973 and quickly spread around the world. Their music spans over three decades. Kalapana continues to be a source of inspiration for contemporary Hawaiian music and musicians today.

Mana`o Company
This group quickly catapulted to the top of the music charts soon after their debut in 1992. After a 9-year hiatus, the Mana’o Company returned in 2001/2(?), and have proven they still have the magic – winning multiple Na Hoku Hanohano Awards in 2002.

Mirek Cipra at ICC

Friday, May 02 2008 at 10:29 pm We recently came across a email from Mirek Cipra (Slovakia), who studied at ICC in 2002. He has a webpage at http://www.cipra.cz/ where he says "In 2002 I fulfilled my great dream and flew to Hawaii to take part in an English course in Honolulu. Those four weeks there seemed to me to resemble a life in the paradise."

ICC Inter-Island Kauai Trip

Friday, May 02 2008 at 10:19 pm Our trip to Kauai started in the very early morning of Saturday the 12th of April. We met at the Honolulu airport. After a 15-minute flight we arrived on the beautiful island of Kauai, called the Garden Isle. Our guides Ellen and Harmoni went to pick up the vans we rented. When we got the cars we went to a nice little restaurant to eat breakfast. Now we were ready to discover the island! We drove westbound to the Waimea Canyon. WOW! What a view we had.
