ICC Big Island Trip

Thursday, February 28 2008 at 4:20 pm From Ellen Kemp, Activities Coordinator at Intercultural Communications College Hawaii:

This February ICC teachers and students took a 3 day trip to the Big Island of Hawaii.

Ellen and Stefanie on the Big Island

Wow! What a place! The Big Island is well - big...and the scenery changes A LOT as you drive around the island. Lots of lava fields, smoking volcanos, black sand beaches , and even green sand beaches!

We saw lots of turtles and fish when we went snorkeling our first day, and the second day we hiked down to the floor of a volcano! The third day we hiked to the highest waterfall in the state of Hawaii and then visited one of the biggest ranches - Parker Ranch - in the USA. The Big Island is also famous for coffee and Macadamia nuts, so we went to a "coffee tasting" (you can try lots of different kinds of coffees, all that are grown and processed right there!) and "Macadamia nut chocolate tastings". We did lots of hiking though, so no one gained any weight!

In March we are going to visit Maui and then in April a trip to Kauai! Hope you can join us!
