Hiking at Ka'ena Point
Friday, April 18 2008 at 12:05 pm From ICC Cambridge Advanced Exam (CAE) student Gregor Beck (Liechtenstein):On the 7th of April five students from Intercultural Communications College Hawaii went on a hike to Ka'ena Point with Ellen. Ka'ena Point is all the way up in the north-west of Oahu. After school we drove with Ellen’s car (VW Golf III with a 1.4 liter in-line engine with 4 cylinders and 16 valves) to the beginning of our hike which was at the end of the road about 2.5 miles before Ka'ena point. We started walking northbound on a hiking track on a rocky coastline. When we arrived at the very end of the road (after one hour walking with many stops for taking pictures) we could see some albatross and even a monk seal which was lying on the beach.

Ka'ena Point is one of the most breathtaking places on Oahu. We had an astonishing view of the ocean and the north-shore as well as the west-coast. We took a break, relaxed and enjoyed this beautiful view. Afterwards we went back to Ellen’s car and talked about our impressions. While driving back to Honolulu we were doing a little rally over the speed bumps along the coast. It was an unforgettable experience.
