ICC Inter-Island Kauai Trip

Friday, May 02 2008 at 10:19 pm Our trip to Kauai started in the very early morning of Saturday the 12th of April. We met at the Honolulu airport. After a 15-minute flight we arrived on the beautiful island of Kauai, called the Garden Isle. Our guides Ellen and Harmoni went to pick up the vans we rented. When we got the cars we went to a nice little restaurant to eat breakfast. Now we were ready to discover the island! We drove westbound to the Waimea Canyon. WOW! What a view we had.

We parked our cars and went on a very nice hike through the forest of the Waimea Canyon. After about 90 minutes of hiking we arrived at a waterfall where we took a little break. Most of us were very busy while hiking because we took a lot of pictures of this beautiful place. When we got back to our cars we went to a restaurant which is owned by some relatives of Harmoni and enjoyed some delicious lunch (pizza). In the afternoon we visited a coffee plantation where we could try some very good coffee of Kauai. After the refreshment we decided to go to Poipu beach where we saw a huge, green sea turtle.

In the evening we drove eastbound to our hotel which was called Kauai Sands. We took a shower and went to some fast food restaurants for dinner.

On Sunday we got up early to have enough time for our planned activities. After checking out of the hotel we drove to the Pools of Mokuleia.

That was just an amazing experience. There was a really beautiful beach and a rocky coastline. All of us really enjoyed this hike and filled up the memory-chips of our cameras. Afterwards we continued our adventure to the Kilauea Lighthouse.

Again we had an astonishing view of the ocean and the beautiful coastline of Kauai. In the afternoon we visited Tunnels Beach. Sadly it started to rain after we arrived so we decided to go to a little town called Hanalei and do some shopping. We met for dinner in a very nice restaurant. After dinner we had to bring our cars back to the renting agency. At the airport the security guy took group pictures with everybody’s camera before returning back to Oahu.

Thanks a lot to Ellen (aka “the map”) and Harmoni (the cute girl =))

Next trip we’re looking forward to getting lost on “Big Island” ;-)
