TALL: Technology Assisted
Language Learning
ICC's computer assisted language learning (CALL) program uses the leading edge Technology Assisted Language Learning software and technology. ICC is the only language school in Honolulu to offer this to English language students. The TALL study program allows students to:
- Spend time each day building on their language skills with a computer program that adapts to their learning needs.
- Review and improve in the areas that are most difficult.
- Measure the speed and accuracy of their responses.
- Study at their own pace and comfort level.
- Get individualized attention from a TALL instructor.
TALL is available as a stand-alone program, or in combination with other ICC programs. ICC’s Super-Intensive course combines 20 hours per week in the English for Communication course with 5 hours per week in ICC’s computer lab using TALL.
TALL uses a holistic approach. Unlike other English language learning programs that solely focus on either technology instruction or classroom instruction, TALL integrates the best of technology, teachers, native speakers and real-world practice to produce better, faster results.
TALL applies a task-based approach to learning English. We divide language learning up into practical language tasks that a person needs to accomplish everyday. As each task is mastered, the learner can immediately apply that knowledge in English settings while continuing to learn new tasks.
TALL was created by Brigham Young University, a premier language research university in North America.
